Here at New in Lynchburg, we came up with some spring cleaning tips that you can try out this spring! Whether you need to clean and organize or just redecorate, spring is here, and now is the time to do everything you have put off. Below are some tips to help you get started!

Rearrange your furniture and decor

As unexciting as it may sound, rearranging the furniture and changing up the decor throughout your house can bring new life into spaces that were becoming old and boring. Spring brings new life into the world as this season follows winter, so this is the perfect time to freshen up your house by spring cleaning.

Simply changing up the locations and placements of furniture is a way to make everything feel like new without having to spend money. In the spirit of spiring time, another spring cleaning tip is to use fresh flowers to decorate your home.

Organize and clean storage areas

Spring cleaning is the perfect reason to take some time to organize your storage spaces and go through all those drawers that collected junk over the winter season. Decluttering can help you feel more efficient, help you make space for things that you actually need and allow you to find all the things you thought were lost for good.

Another important place to organize would be your closets. Looking through all of your clothes and donating items you do not wear anymore is a great way to free up space.

Oh and remember to clean from top to bottom so that you don't get dirt and debris where you just cleaned.

Deep Cleaning

Deep cleaning every so often is important to keep your house not only clean, but healthy for your family as well. You can create effective solutions for all your deep cleaning needs with products you probably already have in your home.

  • Baking soda mixed with water is an easy way to clean places such as your refrigerator and all of your other surfaces and countertops as well.
  • Wash both the inside and outside surfaces of your windows.
  • It is also suggested that you take time to air out your curtains and rugs to freshen them up from the winter.
  • Throw your pillows and comforters into the wash or hang them outside in the sunshine to air out.

Clean up weeds and plant new flowers

Warmer temperatures are finally returning, so it would be a valuable idea to add cleaning out weeds and old plants from your gardens to your spring cleaning agenda this season. Removing everything that died over the winter will help round out all of the spring cleaning you did inside your home as well.

Take a drive around Lynchburg to visit the various greenhouses and flower shops to find everything you need to fill your gardens with fresh colorful plants and flowers.

Host a Yard Sale

Before you throw out everything you no longer use, start setting aside items throughout the year so when it's time to clean out your home for spring cleaning, it will not be so overwhelming. Depending how much stuff you have, you could have your own yard sale, or instead, join forces with your neighbors and do it together. The warm weather of spring is the perfect time to get outside and pass your items on to a new owner, while spending time with people in your community!
