Are you a college kid on a tight budget but hope to impress your date this Valentine’s day? Look no further than Lynchburg for an adventure that doesn’t break the bank. Whether you want to dress up for a nice dinner out or throw on your hiking boots to watch the sunset on top of a mountain, we have you covered. Some of the best places to bring a date in Lynchburg are not advertised. So, we’re here to give you the inside scoop.

White Hart Café

Looking for a laid-back environment to get to know your date better? Grab a delicious latte or split an order of sweet potato fries while listening to a live band. This is a great place for conversation in a casual atmosphere located in Downtown Lynchburg.

Baines Books and Coffee

Sometimes getting a cup of coffee and picking out a couple of new books is the way to satisfy the heart of a reader. If your date is a quiet soul who loves the simple pleasures of coffee beans and literature, bring them to Baines Books and Coffee. This quaint spot has towers of books on the shelves, a wide variety of coffee on the menu, and oftentimes live music. Although it’s in Appomattox, it’s not too far away and it’s a gem!

Waterstone

This is a personal favorite of mine. Waterstone is a classic Lynchburg date spot. If you’re looking for a place to dress up and bring your date for a classy dinner without the high prices, this is your place. Waterstone offers a wide selection of pizza and pasta, and it’s located right in Downtown Lynchburg.

Cinn City

If you’re looking to grab a sweet treat after a dinner out, or grab an on-the-go treat for a cozy stay at home date, stop in at Cinn City. Order custom-made cinnamon buns with any toppings you could ever want! From raspberries with hazelnut glaze to bacon and cream cheese toppings, this guilty pleasure is sure to make your date smile.

Blackwater Creek Trail

The sun has been shining bright in Lynchburg this February with an early spring. So why not have a day date this Valentine’s Day and get outside? Blackwater Creek Trail is the perfect spot to go on a nice walk or bike ride, explore water falls, and discover the natural beauty of Lynchburg. Take a stroll through the lit tunnel buried between the mountains or take a detour up the hiking trails. Blackwater Creek Trail brings you on a journey along the James River and will give you and your date a chance to take an unforgettable adventure without spending a dollar.

Bowling or a Movie with Benny Scarpetta’s Pizza

Sometimes the simple pleasures make the best memories. Benny Scarpetta’s provide monster size pizza slices with a crazy variety of topping for only $3! You can’t beat it. Share a jumbo slice of pizza with your date and then head over to Venue Cinemas to see a movie for only $2 per ticket. This theater has found a place in the hearts of financially cautious college students who still want to have a night out once in a while. If a movie isn’t your cup of tea, follow your pizza date up with bowling at either AMF Lynchburg Lanes or Liberty University’s Montview Bowling Alley.

Whether you’re looking to get outside, have cozy night with a cup of coffee, or get dressed up for a night on the town, Lynchburg has a spot for you this Valentine’s Day!
