Biggers Neighborhood Park

Biggers Park is located in the Garland Hill neighborhood. The shady park is completely fenced and is surrounded by a lovely old stone wall with 3 access points for neighborhood residents. This neighborhood park is designed for family-friendly activities and provides recreation for all age groups.


Blackwater Creek Athletic Area

This park has a little bit of everything to offer a visitor, including Phase I of the only off-leash dog area in Lynchburg. The park also includes a connection to the Creekside Trail, which leads to the Blackwater Creek Natural Area, restrooms, and a multi-purpose lighted field that accommodates football, softball, baseball or soccer. 


College Park

This small, linear park is located near Lynchburg College, between Amelia and Breckenbridge Streets, and contains 3 separate picnic areas with grills, and a basketball court. A small tributary of Blackwater Creek meanders through the center of the park, with large trees providing shade. 


Fort Avenue Neighborhood Park

Fort Avenue Park is located on Fort Ave., past the City Stadium and Ft. Early. This completely fenced neighborhood park is a popular spot for nearby residents to hold family reunions, picnics, or enjoy a game of basketball.


Heritage Park

This 59-acre site provides recreation for both school and park users. Extensive hiking and mountain bike trails are found in Heritage Park, which is located behind Heritage High School. You can access this park from Leesville Rd., near the telephone company building. Heritage Park’s bike trails are for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders, so make sure to pick an appropriate trail for your skill level.


Hollins Mill Park

This popular park provides large shade trees, a lush open field, fishing access, and wonderful views of Blackwater Creek and historic Hollins Mill Dam. Picnic tables and grills are handicapped accessible. Visitors can enjoy the old stonework of the dam as the water surges over the edge. The park aslo includes trail connections to the Blackwater Creek Bikeway, including the Point of Honor Trail section. 


Ivy Creek Park

Ivy Creek Park (the nature park) is located in the Lynchpin Industrial Park, which houses 9 major businesses with over 1,400 employees. Ivy Creek Park is a green oasis that includes the 6-acre Clemmons Lake, multi-use trails, picnic and play areas, as well as an auxiliary site for the naturalists of the Nature Zone and some of their aquatically-inclined reptiles and amphibians.


Jefferson Park

Jefferson Park is home to the Jefferson Park Neighborhood Center that serves as the hub for much of the activity in the park. The park includes a playground, athletic fields, 2 tennis courts, horseshoe pits and a basketball court for active recreation. An open field for play comprises the largest level space to the right of the neighborhood center. The picnic shelter and grills accommodate up to 80 people; ideal for a family reunion or neighborhood gathering.


Lynchburg Dog Park

Miller Park

Miller Park has almost 30 acres and includes 2 picnic shelters that can be rented, as well as the historic Aviary, which can be used for weddings, parties, and other events. Miller Park Pool is the only public outdoor pool in Lynchburg, and can be rented for special occasions.

Peaks View Park is the 2nd largest park in Lynchburg, and offers both passive and active recreation for the entire family. To get to Peaks View Park, look for one of 3 main entrances; one at Ardmore Drive, Tenbury Drive and the other at Ivy Creek Lane off of Wiggington Rd.


Riverfront Park

Riverfront Park is located near the river in downtown Lynchburg, and includes a large open field suitable for festivals and other special events. The park connects to the Riverwalk trail along its northern edge. Riverwalk leads to Percival’s Island in the James River, and parking is available on nearby streets. Riverfront Skatepark

Riverside Skate Park is located in the south-west area of Twin Peaks. The park is relatively new, it was opened in 2014. It is an experimental skate park that offers a lot of activities other than just excellent skating. One of the most beloved parks in Lynchburg, and the 2nd oldest, Riverside Park has over 49 acres of rolling parkland with lovely stands of trees and walking trails that provide views of the wooded hillsides and the river beyond. The park has wonderful views of the James River from the Overlook and along the Alpine Trail, which was the first dedicated hiking trail in Lynchburg.


Sandusky Park

Sandusky Park features athletic fields, a picnic area, and a paved pathway. The park is a lovely place to take a walk near Blackwater Creek. Benches provide resting spots for young and old to admire the many native plants and trees, including viburnum, hypericum, sycamores and dogwoods. With over 21 acres of parkland to explore, Sandusky offers plenty of space for families to spend some time outdoors exploring the flora and fauna native to the area.
